Provisional Registration
  1. Provisional Period: Any vessel applying for standard registration, upon acceptance, will be registered provisionally for six months. This period allows the owner to gather and submit all required original documents listed under “Achieve Permanent Registration Status.”
  2. Anniversary Date: The date of provisional registration is referred to by the St. Kitts & Nevis International Ship Registry as the “Anniversary Date” or the “Date of First Registration.” This date is crucial for calculating annual taxes and certificate expirations.
  3. Permanent Status Upgrade: Upon achieving permanent status, the vessel's registration is upgraded for four years from the Date of First Registration.
  4. Annual Fees: Regardless of provisional or permanent status, the vessel incurs annual fees from the Anniversary Date.

Special Purpose Registration
  1. Eligibility: Special Purpose Registration is available for delivery voyages, one-off voyages, and scrap voyages.
  2. Registration Period: The registration period is three months only.
  3. Simplified Procedure: The registration process is simplified and expedited, with most registrations completed within one working day if all documents are correctly submitted.
  4. Reduced Fees: A reduced rate of fees applies to such registrations.
